Sunday Shame: Movie Lines Edition

I was recently on the phone with everyone’s favourite Gus, Allison McCarthy, when I noticed that Jerry Maguire was on the television.  Of course, you know that I had to cut the conversation short.  Yes, Jerry Maguire is one of those empty big box Hollywood movies. It is not meant to really move you but to allow you an escape for the brief time that you are watching it.  Jerry Maguire does not pretend to be anything more than what it is.  Of course Allison McCarthy felt that I should be ashamed for liking this movie and requested that I out myself this week.  I would also like to remind everyone, that this is a woman that is a fan of that terrible movie Titanic.

At any rate, I love this movie because it has one of the best lines in cinematic history.  I bet you are wondering what that could be.  It’s not show me the money or you complete me, it’s :

I love the Black man.  I love Black people

I think that it is totally awesome that Tom Cruise had to yell this at the top of his lungs.  I always crank the volume at this scene and smile away.  Since I was on the phone with Allison McCarthy, of course you know I had to get her to say it to.  I promised her that it would make her feel better and sure enough she yelled out, “I love Black people”.   This was quickly followed by a loud banging noise, which I can only assume was her banging the phone against her forehead.    She then complained that she was feeling mighty White but hey, it brought me no end of amusement.   So you can complain about big box movies until the end of time, however; Jerry Maguire will always hold a special place in my heart.  And no I am not in the least bit shamed for admitting it either.

Okay, it’s your turn.  Share a line from a movie that you love, which you know to be ridiculous.
